Jacob was born to be a police dog. He was taken away from his mother at a very young age to be trained alongside his brother by humans. He served their security needs in airports, malls, arrests, etc. When he was two years old, his superiors realized he had potential, and decided it would be better for him to be in a task force in charge of controlling drug trafficking in the El Paso border. Ever since this happened, he never got to see his brother again. That ended abruptly when, during a mission with his team, he got shot twice, in the ear and shoulder. The bullet in the shoulder didn't do much damage, but the second one left him partially deaf from one ear. Since hearing was crucially important in his job, Jacob was left in a pound, from which he escaped after a few weeks.
